The Natural Beauty of Dilijan

On Sunday, March 9, we made our way to Dilijan. We made several stops on the way. Our first stop was the ski lift in Dzaghgatzor. The students climbed onto the ski lifts and made their way up the mountains. The gorgeous view of the mountains and valleys from the heights of the ski slopes was breathtaking. We saw people skiing down hills as our lift took us higher and higher up the mountain with nothing but rock much further below our feet .

We then travelled to Lake Sevan, our beautiful lake sitting between mountain ranges. The students had the opportunity to visit the St. Arakelotz and St. Asdvadzadzin churches which ended up being a treat, especially once they saw Lake Sevan from the hilltop.
We noticed how beautiful Dilijan is in the winter as it is in the summer as we traveled to Goshavank. We visited the 12th century Goshavank monastery named after Mkhitar Gosh, the Armenian priest, statesman and scientist. As the pictures show, the monestary complex is large in size and has three churches. Further away on a hilltop is a chapel dedicated to St. Hripsimeh. We prayed and sang sharagans in the church with the priest and examined the many beautifully crafted khatchkars.

We then made it to our final destination, the Dilijan Resort Hotel. The place was like a palace and the dinner service was fit for royalty, especially the sweet table.

Some students went for a dip in the pool while others played billiards and ping pong until it was dinner time.

Warning, some of the students are trying everything they can to stay here.
